QUALITY EDUCATION: A NECESSITY FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF OUR PEOPLE - HON. SAM OGEH, CHIEF TOM ALIEZI




In line with the NEW Rivers Vision of Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike the Member representing Emohua State Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon Sam Ogeh and the Executive Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, High Chief Tom Tom Aliezi today paid an unscheduled visit to State School 1, Ubimini in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.




Addressing the teachers and pupils of the school, Hon Sam Ogeh stated that quality education is a necessity for the development of our people but however expressed shock at the level of decay in the school which has only 7 teachers covering Primaries 1 - 6. He said the visit is to assess the state of affairs in the school and see what could be done to assist in strengthening the foundation of the children for the future.


Sam Ogeh expressed worries that the poor state of the school will lead to further underdevelopment of the people in the near future. According to Sam Ogeh, who is the Chairman House of Assembly Committee on Information and Training as well as Judiciary, "it is disheartening to note that the school is in this level of decay" and expressed shock at the lack of teaching aids in the school. He promised to ensure that appropriate authorities come to the aid of the school to ameliorate the condition of both students and teachers.
On his part, the Executive Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Chief Tom Aliezi promised to ensure that the Universal Basic Education Board and the Council will work in synergy to give our children quality education to help shape their future. He reiterated his government's resolve to bring development to the grassroot in line with the NEW Rivers Vision.
Earlier, the Headmaster of the School, Mr. Solomon Akpelu complained of absence of teaching aids, poor security situation in the school as a result of lack of fencing for the school and lack of chairs for students and teachers
Highlights of the visit was the donation of textbooks to the school by Hon. Sam Ogeh and group photographs.

In the same vein, the entourage which comprised of the Deputy Leader of the EMOLGA Legislative Assembly, Hon. Bernard Odike, Chief Whip of EMOLGA Legislative Assembly, Hon. Kenneth Chuku, Hon. Stephen Achinike of Ward 7, former Vice Chairman of Emohua Caretaker Committee, Hon. Benjamin Amaru, Engr. Victor Benjamin, the Coordinator Wike Solidarity Movement, Emohua Local Government Area Hon. John Amadi, Hon Obindah Nwordu, also visited the ongoing Voters registration centre in Egbeda where Hon Sam Ogeh and Chief Tom Aliezi expressed happiness with the torn out.
